Once upon a time there was a boy
called Jack Fear-less because he was afraid of nothing. He travelled round the world and one day came to a small hotel. He was very tired and sleepy. The host said, "I have no place for you but if you are fearless I have a place in a palace." Jack said, "Why should I be afraid?" |
| The host said, "There
are ghosts in the palace!! People who sleep there never come back!!" But Jack was a fearless boy, so he took a lantern, a bottle of wine and a big sausage and went to the palace. |
| He was eating the sausage and
drinking the wine when at midnight he heard a voice coming from the earth. "Shall I let it?" "Sure!" And a leg came down from the
chimney. Jack drank some wine. And another leg came down. Jack ate a piece of sausage. |

| And an arm came down from
the chimney. Jack began to whistle. "Shall I let it?" "Sure!" ......... Another arm. "Shall I let it?" "Sure!" And a trunk came down and went to join the legs and arms and a man without a head appeared. "Shall I let it?" "Sure!" A head came down and jumped on top of the trunk. He was a very big man, a giant!! Jack lifted the glass and said. "Cheers!!" The big man said "take the lantern and come with me!" Jack took the lantern but didnt go. |

"You go first!" said the
giant "You! You!" The giant went through a room, and another, and another
They
came to a small door. The giant opened the door. There was a flight of stairs. The giant went downstairs and they found a big stone in the
floor.

| The giant lifted the stone and
there were three big pots full of gold!! "You carry them up!" said the giant. "You! You!" The giant carried them upstairs one, two, three puff! When the three pots were upstairs up the chimney went one leg of the giant |

" Up went the other arm " The magic spell is broken!" "You can have the gold
" "and you can have the palace too!" The giant disappeared and Jack Fearless lived happily ever after. |
