| "Help! Help! Santa! Christmas
Gnomes! Everybody, come here! I have important news for everybody,"shouted Christmas
Gnome one day in February. All the Christmas Gnomes in Korvatunturi gathered in Santa Clausīs workshop. It seemed to be a matter of life and death. When everybody was ready to listen, the Gnome spoke ..."The European Union has decided that all countries should change their gnomes to EURO-GNOMES. This will all happen according to rule 3001.3 part G. All Gnomes in all countries should live in the same kind of place; have the same jobs to do; wear the same kind of clothes." "Oh no," shouted all the Gnomes. "We must stop this. We will have to hold a meeting for all the Finnish Gnomes here in Korvatunturi," decided Santa. "WE PROTEST." For the last 9000 years the Finns believed that all men had their own Gnome, a spirit, who followed him all his life like a shadow, appearing every now and then and guiding him. Gnomes are important!! |

So ....
A week later many different kinds of little gnomes met in Korvatunturi.
Each kind told its tale. Each kind told why it was important NOT to be a Eurognome. House gnome was the first to speak. |
| "There are over 5 million Finns,
so there are many house gnomes and our job has become more difficult. We are still
important... even to the city children." Click to read about the House Gnome Next to speak was a Sauna Gnome."We have traditions to keep. We must fight the EU. I have here a pile of stories written by children and saying that we are special and unique." Click to read about the Sauna Gnomes Next to speak was one of the Stable Gnomes. He stood up and read the childrenīs writing and showed their pictures. Click to read about the Stable Gnomes "There are less and less stable gnomes year by year, but still we are needed. We can help Christmas gnomes in the busy times." The other Gnomes cheered. The Stable Gnome thanked his audience."All right. Now it must be time to listen to the Christmas Gnomes", said Santa Claus.
