Once upon a time there was an
old man who wanted to grow turnips ... so he scattered some turnip seeds on his garden. |
| After about an hour he started to feel very
sleepy so he went inside to have a little nap. He had wonderful dreams about turnips that night. |
|
|
The next morning the old man decided to get up
early to check his seeds. He looked out of the window and could not believe his eyes. It was an enormous turnip! |
| As fast as he could the little old man rushed outside. "That is just what I dreamed about, an enormous turnip," said the little old man in suprise |
| The man got hold of it
and pulled and pulled and pulled but he could not pull it out. He called his wife, "Wife! Wife! I need help!" So the old man and his wife tried but they still could not pull it up. |
|
| So his wife called for their son, Tom. But they still could not pull up the enormous turnip. Tom called for his sister, Gabrielle. But the four of them still could not pull up the enormous turnip. |

So Gabrielle called for the dog,
"DOG!" They all pulled and pulled and pulled but the turnip would not come out of the ground. So the dog called for the cat, ``CAT! ``. |
| The cat held on to the dog and they pulled and pulled and pulled but the turnip would not come out of the ground. So the cat called for the mouse. |
| A soon as the little dot (the
mouse) came to pull the turnip came out of the ground. They all fell over. |

They pulled the gigantic turnip into the
kitchen and the wife chopped it up and cooked it. They had a feast of turnip for tea, and even the following week they still had turnip for tea! |
