A long time ago, there was a place called Cantrer Gwaelod.
King Gwyddno lived there. He worried that cantrer Gwaelod was ? too weak below sea level too small . So the walls had to be well guarded, and the gates closed, in ? stormy weather January in time for tea .
The king asked Seithenyn to take care of the wall, and to make certain that the gates were ? painted opened closed during a storm
There was to be ? skating a hurling game a feast at, the palace, and many people were invited.
Seithenyn dreamt about going there. But he had to ? cook the dinner have a bath look after the gates .
He decided to go to the feast and to ask two soldiers to look after the wall.
Seithenyn went to the feast and sat in a dark corner, enjoying himself.
There was a terrible storm. The soldiers ran to ? close the gate tell the King to safety but the water was already coming through.
Gwyddno realised that something had gone terribly wrong. He went searching for Seithenyn and found him ? up to his knees in mud in the stables fast asleep in a corner .
The high waves had broken through the gates ------- it was too late!
The people and the houses disappeared. The farms and the animals disappeared. The walls and the towers disappeared. Cantrer Gwaelod disappeared.
If you go to Cardigan Bay on a fine summers evening, listen to the sound of the sea and the waves. You might even hear the sound of ? the fish bubbling the bell ringing guards swimmimg from the water!
